Firm Ground Below is an ongoing conversation regarding the design, implementation, and development of interactive worlds and fiction – the genre space more commonly references as massively multiplayer online games. These conversations are generally aimed at the design choices made by developers and their impact on creating the immersive, shared space of virtual worlds that the participants crave. We occasionally will feature developers, but the primary voices elevated here will be those of the players and participants of these worlds. Additionally, you’ll find occasional posts on the industry itself and the media that covers it.
The titles covered will cut across sub-genres and companies, and content decisions are made primarily by focusing on the titles that are the most currently compelling due to the evolutionary pushes that they’re placing on both the genre and on the design process of creating interactive worlds.
